Women have been neglected for years in the job market. More women are entering the workforce today and giving efforts equal to those of men, but are still facing discrimination in many ways. Here we are going to discuss the issues that women commonly face in the workplace today.
Flexibility in jobs
Women have to look after their family and children, besides having a full-time job.
Most employers don’t give women the job flexibility they need so that they can manage both work and family. So, often women have to leave their job to look after family or start to get absent regularly.
Employers should introduce flexible working hours, and facilities like daycare service, so that women can work in a better environment. This will reduce absenteeism and job turnover.
Inequality in wages
Men are still paid higher wages and salaries than women despite having similar education and experience. A study has indicated that women have to work 70 days more every year to get equal pay as men.
Employers should have to be transparent and make sure that there is no wage gap between men and women.
Race and gender bias
People are still biased towards race and gender. They favour particular people and don’t care about others. Women are being questioned in the workplace about their race, culture, and gender. Other people’s attitudes toward them affect women’s performance at work.
Women in a leadership position
Less percentage of women are seen in leadership positions. These positions are mostly taken up by men. There are capable and talented women out there who can take leadership roles.
This is a common issue in every workplace. Women are victims of sexual harassment. They often have to leave a job for this problem in the workplace.
Employers must provide fair chances to women. Everyone has an equal right in the workplace and this perception must be established. Otherwise, these issues will come up again and again and women will be suffering.
